Product Description
The 10 ft bunded shipping container is a compact, self-contained storage unit designed for the safe on-site containment of liquids, chemicals, and hazardous materials. This unit integrates a primary storage interior with a built-in secondary containment sump, or bund, in a single, portable steel structure. Its smaller footprint allows for placement in space-constrained environments while providing compliant storage for drums, Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), and small equipment .
Key Features
-
Integrated Bunded Containment: The container features a liquid-tight, welded secondary containment sump built into the floor. This bund is engineered to hold the contents of the largest stored vessel in the event of a leak or spill, helping to prevent environmental contamination .
-
Durable Steel Construction: Manufactured from heavy-gauge, corrosion-resistant steel, the unit is designed to withstand demanding industrial and environmental conditions .
-
Secure and Lockable: Equipped with lockable double doors on one end, the container provides secure storage, restricting unauthorized access to the contents inside .
-
Compact and Portable Design: With a 10-foot length, this container offers a space-efficient storage solution for sites where a standard 20-foot unit is impractical. Its structure is designed for transport and relocation using appropriate equipment .
-
Weather-Resistant Exterior: The steel construction and sealed doors provide a weather-resistant barrier, protecting the contents from rain and snow .
Detailed Description
A bunded shipping container differs from a standard dry van container by incorporating a critical environmental safety feature. The “bund” is a secondary containment system, essentially a large, shallow, and leak-proof tray that forms the floor of the container. This design ensures that any leaks or spills from drums, tanks, or machinery stored inside are captured within the unit, rather than seeping out into the surrounding ground or draining into water systems .
The 10 ft bunded container provides a practical solution for facilities that require compliance with spill prevention regulations but lack the space for larger units. It functions as a portable, self-contained hazardous material locker. Constructed from steel, it offers the same structural integrity and security as a standard shipping container, with the added benefit of integrated environmental protection. The unit typically includes double doors with integral locking bars and has a smooth interior for ease of loading and cleaning.
