At Shipping Container Spot, we take great pride in the quality of our new and used shipping containers. We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. Because shipping containers are heavy freight items involving significant logistics costs, please read our refund and return guidelines carefully before finalizing your purchase.

1. Order Cancellations & Modifications

We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or modify your order, please notify us as soon as possible.

  • Before Processing & Dispatch: If you cancel your order before the container has been prepared, inspected, or dispatched from our logistics yard, you will receive a full 100% refund to your original payment method.
  • After Dispatch: If your order has already been scheduled with a freight carrier or has left our yard, it cannot be canceled mid-transit. You must accept delivery of the container and follow our standard return process outlined below. The customer will be responsible for all associated transit and recovery fees.

2. Return Window & Eligibility

We offer a 30-day return window starting from the day your container is delivered to your designated site. To be eligible for a return and a refund:

  • The container must be in the exact same structural condition as it was delivered. It must not have been modified, painted, structurally altered, or damaged by the customer.
  • The container must be completely empty, clean, and free of any personal property or debris.
  • You must provide a valid proof of purchase (your Shipping Container Spot invoice or order number).

3. Return Logistics & Costs

Due to the specialized semi-truck transportation required to haul shipping containers, returns involve significant freight handling.

  • Customer Responsibility: For standard returns (change of mind, ordered wrong size, etc.), the customer is responsible for arranging and paying for the return freight transportation back to our nearest logistics yard.
  • Restocking Fee: Standard returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee to cover the cost of offloading, re-inspection, and processing at our facility. This fee will be deducted from your final refund amount.

4. Delivery Site Rejections & Failed Delivery

As detailed in our Shipping Policy, it is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure the delivery site has adequate clearance and solid ground.

  • If a delivery truck arrives at your site and the carrier determines it is physically impossible or unsafe to drop off the container due to poor site preparation (mud, steep inclines, low power lines, lack of space), the container will be returned to our yard.
  • In these instances, the order will be treated as a return. Your refund will be processed minus the actual cost of round-trip shipping fees and the 15% restocking fee.

5. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Containers

We perform strict inspections before any container leaves our inventory yards. However, structural issues can occasionally happen during transit.

  • Inspection Upon Arrival: You must thoroughly inspect the container (including doors, locking bars, and seals) before signing the driver’s Bill of Lading (BOL).
  • What to Do: If the container has major structural damage or does not match the grade you purchased (e.g., you ordered a “Cargo Worthy” container but received an “As-Is” damaged unit), refuse the delivery or note the damage clearly on the driver’s paperwork.

6. Refund Processing Timeline

Once the returned shipping container is safely received back at our facility and passes inspection by our yard manager to verify its condition:

  • Approval Notice: We will send you an email notifying you that we have received the unit and confirm the approval or rejection of your refund.
  • Processing Time: Approved refunds are processed immediately. The credit will be applied back to your original method of payment (Wire Transfer, Credit Card, or financing partner).
  • Bank Turnaround: Please allow 3 to 7 business days for the funds to reflect on your financial statement, depending on your bank’s processing times.
